Frequently Asked Questions

What software do you use for digital art?
• Photoshop CS, Flash CS and Illustrator CS.

What stuff do you use for your marker and color pencil art art?
• Prismacolor for both markers and color pencils. Sometimes I use Prang for color pencils too. I like to use white ink with a quill pen, or a gel pen or paint pen, for highlights. Sometimes I'll put gaouche on if I really screw something up. Masking fluid is handy too since Prismacolor markers act like watercolor a little.

Will you draw my characters?
• Art and graphic design are my jobs. I do not do free work. So, if you'd like me to draw for you, check out my rates on the Commission Info page.

Why do you price your work the way you do?
• I price my work based on the materials, the use it will go to, and the time I take to create it. Since I do this for a living, I must pay myself a fair wage, or else I underprice myself and hurt my own place in the economy.

I saw your chainmail do-dads/belt. Do you do chainmail commissions? I want some armor/jewelry!
• I sell small keychains and sometimes jewelry, but I don't have the time or resources to do armor, decorative or functional. Also, I'm not terribly confident with my larger pieces - I hate to make something and have it fall apart. Maybe in the future this will happen, but for now I can't do chainmail commissions.

What's an "axolotl"?
• I do get asked this a lot! I guess they are pretty unusual. :)
Axolotls are a kind of salamander, closely related to the Tiger Salamander. They don't metamorphose as they mature, so they remain aquatic all their lives. I think they're the cutest things ever. If you think they look like Mudkips, that's because Mudkips are based on that group of salamanders. You can read about them here at Axolotl.org.

You draw a lot of crossed spiritualities. What do you actually believe in?
• In college, conceptual art class, I read about an artist that called himself a theosophist. He believed god, whatever god was, was inherent in everything and everyone, so naturally, anyone should be able to find god from within by way of their own intuition. Theosophy is the theory that all religions stem from the original truth - therefore they all have a piece, or reflection, of the truth.
